Day 2: Making a design and atmosphere for your channel

You've probably scrolled through a lot of YouTube partners channels and noticed that they have A LOT of content to look at. They have a background, probably a banner, play lists, etc. Take a look at BrenyBeast's channel. He is a consistent YouTube partner, meaning that he takes advantage of his active subscribers and is as professional as possible. We can get to that later!
Like I said, there are MANY things to look at when you are on his and other partner's channels.

The first thing we notice is his current video. Since you haven't uploaded any videos yet I presume, we will also get to this later.

Now since you can't have a banner as you aren't a YouTube partner (yet!), we will then focus on the BACKGROUND.

Backgrounds are important because they are what a good portion of your viewers see. Believe it or not, but ever since YouTube removed the menu that used to be above videos on the actual video page, people now mainly watch videos from the channel. This means that you need to make your background comply with the following 3 rules.

1. Make it relevant.
If you have a gaming focused channel, don't make your background have a picture of a basketball.
2. Make it blend in.
If you play a game such as MineCraft, don't use colors that aren't going to be in your videos. It will have a negative effect on your viewer. If you did play MineCraft, try having green and brown colors in your background.
3. NO TEXT.
This rule can be broken if you are putting in your Name or your slogan, but don't have something like "FACEBOOK LIKE IT UP HTTP://FACEBOOK.COM/MINECRAFTHACKER2013XXSWAGGG"

Now that we've worked out your background, the next thing you will need to focus on is the description of your channel. This is pretty straight forward: Links to Facebook, Twitter, video schedule ("I upload Wednesdays and Fridays!", etc.).

Tomorrow we will talk about "Making your video"!
